Why should I buy my Glass Splashbacks from the Glass Guy?

We aren't  your typical glazing business.

We specialise in Glass Splashbacks - so all of our attention is focused on them only, that's why we don't sell Wardrobe doors or Showerscreens or fix Broken windows.

Another major difference is - we don't surround our glass Splashbacks with aluminium frames.

We provide frameless splashbacks.  We measure to fit perfectly!

If  you're after Glass Splashbacks for the sleek, spacious look... Frames won't give you this look....and don't forget frameless splashbacks provide any easier cleaning area for you too!

We also have our own Painting Division here in Melbourne & pride ourselves on the high standard of work we produce.

We're experts in our field & offer you quality products, we're sure you will be delighted with.

What are the benefits of Glass Splashbacks compared to tiles?

Glass Splashbacks are so much easier to clean!

There's no grout related mould to worry about .... that means less time cleaning & better hygiene.

Glass Splashbacks make your room look more spacious & modern.

They instantly brighten & lighten up the room because of their reflective surface

... and they look great with electrical appliances.

When is the best time to get a measure & quote for Splashbacks?

We can come out - Once your kitchen is completely installed (bench tops & rangehood in) & the Electrician has finished the wiring for the powerpoints & all electrical work has been done.

Please email/fax or phone us with your sizes before for a 'guess-ti-mate'. You'll find if your measurement are accurate - the price will be too.

We require a smooth straight surface (usually plaster board or cement sheeting) to adhere the splashbacks to.

In some cases we can place the splashbacks over the top of existing tiles - however we do NOT recommend this! You will loose bench space and if the splashbacks are visible from the side - the tiles and splashbacks will appear bulky.

Is there a warranty on the Splashbacks?

Yes, we offer a 7 year guarantee on fading & delamination.

We bond a durable specially formulated paint onto our Splashbacks.

How long do Splashbacks take to be installed?

It takes approximately 15 - 20 working days from measure to installation time.

What about power points or cut-outs?

We need to work out exactly where the power points & cut outs are when they are  ordered because they can't be cut out once they are made & painted.  We use 6mm toughened safety glass & this can't be altered once made.

What colours can I have?

We have a wonderful colour range to offer you from sassy metallics to our full solid colour chart.

We can also colour match to suit your needs, so if there's a Dulux, Taubmans, Wattyl etc. colour your after let us know! Its not a problem to paint your splashbacks in that colour for you. Keep in mind that we will have to use Starphire glass to get the exact shade.

What type of Glass is used for Splashbacks?

We  have two different types of Glass.

Standard Clear Glass or Low iron/Starphire glass.

Both of these types of glass can be slumped.

Where else can Glass Splashbacks be used?

There are so many places for Splashbacks.... its only limited by your imagination!

Here are some ideas:

Kitchens,

Bathrooms,

Laundries - wet areas,

Table tops

Feature walls,

Balustrades,

Shelving.

Are Glass Splashbacks made to Australian Standards?

Yes, We use 6mm Toughened Safety glass for all of our Glass Splashbacks where possible.

- complies with AS1288

Do I require a fire retardant board behind my gas burner?

Splashbacks must be a minimum of 140mm from the nearest gas burner to the surface of the glass splashback to comply with Australian Standards.

If the distance is less than 140mm The Glass Guy (Aust) Pty Ltd will install a Fire retardant board to comply with Australian Standards before installation of the Glass Splashback.

There is an extra charge of $25 if fireboard is needed.

*If you have an electric stove you do not need to worry about a fire retardant board.
